Happy Birthday to YOU!

Yesterday was my younger sister's birthday. Every year on all of our birthdays we go out for a birthday dinner. Although now that we're older if it's not our birthday, we gotta pay our own way. Oh the downside of getting old... older, I mean. Ha ;) We all pretty much have our set spot where we're going to go. Except Brenna, she's a wild card. I always choose Mongolian BBQ because HELLO it's the bomb-dot-com & Kayla always picks Outback Steakhouse. Equally delish, however I get a free meal email from Mongo every year at my bday... so they win.

Since I have a (self-diagnosed, which is a whole other post in itself.) potato allergy, I have been trying to limit my potato consumption lately. So it's always an inner struggle on which side I choose when we go out to eat. There really aren't a whole lot of sides these days that AREN'T potato. It's always a given that we are going to get at least one plate of Aussie Fries, so this go-round I decided to skip the uber delicious garlic mashies and just get Mac-A-Roo as my side. It was seriously the hardest thing ever to give up my spuds. They really make the chicken taste so much better! Sigh... I guess next time I'll have to get a steak instead of chicken. Darn you potato allergy!!

The good side to Outback on your birthday is you get free dessert. And we take full advantage of Kayla's free b-day dessert yearly!

Let me break this picture down for you. You see, Daisy likes to steal your bite of ice cream right off your spoon before you can lift it out of the bowl, resulting in Tyler's look of death right at this moment. She's a sneaky one, but even sneakers get caught sometimes! Hence this picture.

My mom on the other hand, is just trying to enjoy some ice cream but can't because she has to 5-year-old muchers trying to get their share of the goods! CAN. YOU. BLAME. THEM?

Daisy asked me to take a picture of her, posed like this, then looked at it & said "OHHHH I have a mustache!" I lol'd.

Finally you have the birthday girl sporting the oh-so-rad sunglasses that her SUPER AWESOME sister, A.K.A. me, got for her. (For no reason at all, I may add) Then the joke of the evening was "I mustache you a question, but I'll shave it for later" Leave it to Beba to bring the corn. haha

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAY KAY!

American Idol Round Up - Finale Night 1

But it's TUESDAY!!! It's not American Idol night... Oh WAIT! It's finale week so we start a day earlier. Why, you ask? Because SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE starts this week!!!!!!!! yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayaya
Can you tell I'm excited? haha

We're just gonna get right to it!

Round 1 - Simon Fuller Picks
Jessica Sanchez - I Have Nothing - Whitney Houston
I thought she sang very well, BUT for the finale I thought it would be so much MORE! I expected more from her and she disappointed.

Phillip Phillips - Stand By Me - Ben E. King
I love Phillip's style. I just love that voice, but again, I expected more from him being the FINAL performance before the winner is announced.

*I think I agree with the judges, sadly, that Jessica won the first round.

Round 2 - Contestant Choice
Jessica Sanchez - The Prayer - Celine Dion
This was more like what I was expecting. It was big and powerful and she held it at all the right moments. She's a ballad girl, but it has to be the right ballad. She doesn't seem very diverse in that regard.

Phillip Phillips - Movin' Out - Billie Joel
Yay Phillip! This was so much better! It just goes to show you that just because the big-wig thinks you'd sing a song well doesn't mean he's right SIMON FULLER! haha kidding, but really they both did so much better on the songs they picked.

*I say Phillip took this round, the judges disagree. Steven says Jessica, Randy says it's even and JLo says Phillip. So thanks for a whole lotta nothing judges.

Round 3 - Jimmy Iovine (winner's 1st single)
Jessica Sanchez - Change Nothing - Original
The song written for Jessica was slow... SHOCKER. She's a sit on the piano and belt singer, I'm not a fan. She did however sing the song very well. Not well enough to win in my opinion. Not sure if it's her singing or the song itself. Just not a winner for me.

Phillip Phillips - Home - Original
YES, YES, YES! It was very Mumford & Sons-esque and I LOVED IT! Finally a great song written for a finalist! This song was made of all kinds of awesome. Phillip for the win! He's AMAZEBALLS!

*Randy agreed it sounded Mumford & Son-ish. Dumb JLo thinks it's like nothing on the radio and Steven agrees on it's awesomness. Phillip wins round 3!

My prediction - PHILLIP PHILLIPS of course! Like there was ever a question! Everyone go vote for Philly Phil! And get ready to start hearing HOME on your radios SOON!

I Forgot To Talk About Stuff Yesterday...

My Bad...

So here's a few things I forgot about when making my final 30 Meals for 30 Families in 30 Days blog entry. (and I'm not sure how I feel about this aligned left business, but I'm going with it.)

Number 1.
How pretty are these flowers?

I love them! A big thank you to the Herman's for these beauties!

Number 2.
I love orange!

How did Bobbi know? Thank you guys so much for the flowers!

And speaking of Bobbi & her amazing family. HOW CUTE IS THIS PICTURE????

Totes Adorbs. Fo Sho. Makenzie is a natural with babies. LB was loving all the attention!

And finally. I wish I could figure out what I did to the spacing on my blog. One hit of the enter button and it adds 3 spaces between lines. Help!

That is all.

I swear God is testing me...

Whichever of my parents thought it was cute to pray that I learn patience is really on my Spit List!!! Seriously today was the worst ever, and it was always while I was driving!

I guess I should preface it with the reasoning why I am so stressed and lacking patience lately. I have put together a project I titled "30 meals for 30 families in 30 days" and I'm doing it though my church. It's not your run-of-the-mill help out those in need charity project either! I basically want to celebrate families for the things they do in our church and  build a little fellowship in our church community.

It really all started for a selfish reason... I want to learn to cook more than mac & cheese! So, through my thoughts and with the help of my awesome Mom (before she was possibly on the Spit List) it has turned into something so much bigger! I'm really excited to see it all come to fruition! It's going to be a crazy 30 days but I'm ready for it!

Ok, so back to my angry-at-my-parents rant. Everywhere I have gone today, I have been stuck behind slow drivers, hit every red light and even encountered a palm tree. In Michigan! I know, I know... pics or it didn't happen.

Here I am stuck at the millionth red light of my day.

Oh wait, going 40 in a 50... Yea my fave thing ever!

And I mentioned the palm tree right?? You can see why I quickly got over. (Don't worry, I was at another red light when I took this picture!)

I'm really hoping this doesn't last long because I don't know how long I can keep my road rage in check! haha
