American Idol: It's Performance Day!

Here we go again kids. It's Wednesday and you know what that means! American Idol performance day. Before I get to my recap I must say that I'm sad Skylar is gone, and The Dog Randy Jackson looks like he is putting some weight back on. Maybe it's the jacket?

Let's get down to business, shall we?

Round One - California Dreamin'
Phil Phillips - Have You Ever Seen The Rain - Credence Clearwater Revival
My first thought... THIS SONG IS PERFECT FOR HIM! I was right... Like always. (other than last weeks results but I'm pretending like that never happened. Don't. Judge. Me!)

**BTW at this point of the evening my sense of smell is being assaulted by taco flavored popcorn. Someone save me!**

Hollie Cavanagh - Faithfully - Journey
Not as strong as strong as River Deep, Mountain High from last week, but it got a lot better the further along in the song she got. I think she finished strong and she picked a good song. I just wish she had the confidence she had last week.

Josh Ledet - You Raise Me Up - Secret Garden
You know I'm not a Josh fan... but you guys... HE KILLED THIS SONG!!! It really was the perfect song choice for his voice! I'm kinda sorta maybe a fan of you... but ONLY for this song. Only. This. Song.

Jessica Sanchez - Steal Away - Etta James
Typical powerhouse Jessica... YAAAAWN... I'm so over her! See... I knew my support for her wouldn't last long...

Duets/Groups:
Josh Ledet & Phil Phillips - This Love - Maroon 5
Really??? Why are we doing this pairing again??? We didn't learn from last week??? Apparently not... BUT WAIT!! This song was so much better! It was a better balance of their voices. It didn't constantly feel like Josh was under-singing to match Phil. I actually kinda dug it...

Jessica Sanchez & Hollie Cavanagh- Eternal Flame - The Bangles
No big surprise here, but I liked Hollie more than Jessica. I think they melded together great, but Hollie was SOLID, Jessica felt shakey.  Good job overall. Except that big note at the end... OUCH. Hollie was high, Jessica was flat. Hollie. For. The. Win!

**Sidebar - I want to see Rock Of Ages!!! Even though Tom Cruise is in it.**

Final Four - Waiting For A Girl Like You - Foreigner
Again, Josh looks bored, but he's on tune and brings it! Hollie is great, Jessica can just leave the stage and Phil... You're always awesome... Besides that whole Time Of The Season mishap from last week. I'm also going to pretend THAT never happened.

Round Two - Songs They Wish They'd Written
Phil Phillips - Volcano - Damien Rice
This song gave me chills. I really hope Phil wins because I want NEED more of this! I totes agree with Randy, My Dog, it was his best performance to date. Nothing more needs to be said. Yay Phil!

Hollie Cavanagh - I Can't Make You Love Me - Bonnie Raitt
I love this song. I love Hollie. Please make the emotional connection, I beg of you. She sang beautifully, but I didn't fully feel that connection. Almost there, but not quite. She needed to let some of the notes simmer a little longer. That would have helped.

Josh Ledet - It's A Man's Man's Man's World - James Brown
Ok, I'll give it to him... He killed that. The most perfect song he could have ever picked EVER! Good job Josh. Enjoy tonight, because you deserved it.

Jessica Sanchez - And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going - Jennifer Holliday
While it was a good performance technically, I really didn't care for it. I just can't get on bored the Jessica Sanchez train. I'm over it.

I would like to close this evenings post with a letter to Jennifer Lopez.

Dear JLo,
What's with the hair?
You look like a freak.
Sincerely,
The whole wide world.

California Trip - DISNEYLAND!!!!!

Happiest. Place. On. Earth!

Oh yea baby! Disneyland is the bomb-diggity-bomb-dot-com! I would live there if I could. Applied for a job once, I guess I didn't meet the "Happiness Quota" that makes me super sad.

I love Disneyland's "It's A Small World" Ride because they have a bunch of Disney characters mixed in with all of the other dolls. Super cool!

Ummmm Hi... A Michael Jackson MOVIE. AT. DISNEYLAND????? Have I died & gone to heaven??? I do believe so! Someone bring the panels, this chicks about to code!

First MJ, Now Alice!!! You have GOT to be kidding me! Happiest place on earth, fo sho.

I'm hoping to get a disc from Sam with all of the good Disney pictures (because you KNOW we posed with the characters!) When I get them, I will update!

California Trip - Santa Monica Pier

Probably one of the most beautiful places on earth! I'm not going to fill this post up with words. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Ok this requires words. Seriously best buy ever! Skeleton MJ???? You can't find that just anywhere! Only on the Santa Monica Pier. I really want to go back there. Like NOW!

California Trip - Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

Next to the Zoo, Aquariums are my next favorite thing! Sam & I went on a little road trip down to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and spent a few hours with the fishes!

Sharky hanging in the front gates.

Fishy Fishies!

The biggest starfish I've EVER seen!!!

Along with the biggest lobster I've ever seen!

Random dude at the aquarium asked me to take his picture and send it to his phone so he would have something to show his class about his research at the aquarium. I tried about a million times to send it to him and it never went through. :( sorry guy I was supposed to send a picture to, You gave me a bad number!

SEAHORSES!!! I love them with all my heart & soul! I'm so glad we got to see some at the aquarium! they are just neat little guys! I want one!

Then me & Sam had a little fun in the common area:

Well, you get to see Sam have some fun. You see, All the pictures of me having fun are on Sam's computer & I have all the ones of her.

If you live in the LA area, or plan to visit there in the near future, I STRONGLY suggest you go to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. I'll even give you the address!

California Trip - San Diego Zoo

Remember when I told you the zoo was my very favorite place in the whole widest world? Well I really meant it! Getting to spend the whole day with my super awesome California family! I'm pretty sure I saw just about everything there is to see in the zoo.

Lifeguard Hippo welcomes you to the San Diego Zoo.

Polar bear mating dance. Was pretty funny.

Giant Elephant. He's the solo dude in his great big pen. The elephant area is pretty sweet at the San Diego zoo, they have a whole elephant "hospital" right there. You can see everything they do, bathing, check ups, etc.

She seriously DESTROYED that bone!

Giraffes!

I know what you're thinking. What in the WORLD is that dog doing in the cage with a cheetah???? Funny thing about cheetahs, they're companion animals. Each cheetah at the San Diego Zoo has a dog companion that they do just about everything with. The only thing they don't do it eat together. Obvi.

Sleepy Koala. They pretty much sleep 20 hours a day. They perch in these trees and the zookeepers place leaves along the branch, the koala will wake up move to the leaf, eat it & fall right back to sleep. Wake-up & repeat.

Then we did a little face painting!

Sam got some sweet fairy-swirly like design.

Morgan transformed in to a koala.

Anica went with some butterflies. That she could easily hide with her hair! Cheater!

And I got a red/orange/pink peacock. We look pretty sweet eh?

Then we saw Camels

And Meerkats...

Lions...

Ducks...

Peacocks...

Pandas...

And Reptiles... Oh My!

Overall it was a GREAT day at the zoo & I can 't wait to go back!

California Trip - View From The Train

Day 2 in California Sam & I took the train down to San Francisco to meet up with my Aunt Jeannine, Uncle Jeff, Cousins Anica & Morgan and my Grandpa Jim. We spent the whole day at the zoo. I love the Zoo! With all my heart! I would rather spend a day at a zoo or aquarium than anywhere else in the world! Truth. So this entry you'll get to see the train stuff, next post will be at the zoo. :) Good times.

LA Rooftops.

Angels Stadium.

Pacific Ocean

It was really cloudy & nasty out. :( Thankfully it didn't rain all day!

So there you have it folks. My view flying down the Pacific coast from LA to San Francisco. It was a gloriously relaxing 3 hour ride. It was pretty cheap to!
